Search the Isle of Wight

Red Lion - Freshwater Husband and wife run pub in a picturesque setting just a short stroll from the tidal River Yar, which is popular with the sailing set from nearby Yarmouth. The open-plan bar is comfortably furnished with country kitchen-style tables and chairs, plus relaxing sofas and antique pine. The lack of background music is definitely a plus point
Rylstone Manor Set in delightful parkland gardens amidst maturetrees and winding paths, which lead you to the shingle and sandy beaches via the cliff steps, The Manor was privately built in 1863 and remained a gentleman’s residence until 1923. It is of Victorian proportions but with the influence of Gothic, Tudor and Georgian periods.
Isle of Wight Lavender From field to fragrance, Isle of Wight lavender are growers and producers of the highest quality lavender. Natural cosmetics made from lavender oil are produced on site at the lavender farm and there is also a gift shop, nursery and tearoom.
Somerton Lodge The Somerton Lodge is a beautiful Victorian Hotel set within the idyllic backdrop of a leafy tree lined avenue. The Hotel is situated just a few hundred yards from Shanklin Old Village, the Chine, the town centre and the cliff lift down to the Esplanade.

  • Carisbrooke Castle: Wow! Just amazing!
WOW! We booked this for my husband's 40th - Truly Amazing! We have three children, 5, 4 and 2yrs and they all loved it - so sad that this will be the only time we can stay as our youngest was classed as an infant still so we were all able to cram in! We were the only prople within the castle walls from when it closed at 4pm till it opened at 10am - fantasctic! It's all been covered in the previous review but we loved the hide and seek potential, the children ran wild once it was closed and we all felt terribly sad to be leaving to come home - an outstanding place to stay with all ages loving it! If you want to stay somewhere special, unusual and above all truly breathtaking then this is it - watch the sun rise all alone from the top of the castle keep or along the ramparts and wonder just how it felt so many years ago... history came alive - FANTASTIC!
  • Carisbrooke Castle: Well worth the time
Have to agree with Sharon. A 'must' do when you visit the Island in my book. Will appeal to children of all ages (and adults too!)
  • Carisbrooke Castle: Great Fun
This was a great castle to visit. The walls are almost complete and you can walk completely around the perimeter as well as their being rooms to see inside. The children could try on armour and chain mail. We spent about 3 hours here in total.
