You might want to get wet and up your heart rate with some water sports. Take some expert advice at the Lake's water sports centre, or test your skills windsurfing and sailing at Yaverland. Then again you could simply sit back and watch the proffesionals. At the end of September Yaverland comes alive with the sight of wavesailing, slalom windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing at the White Air Extreme Sports Festival - a sporting event like no other.

With one of the highest concentrations of dinosaur fossils anywhere in the world, the Isle of Wight has been dubbed 'Dinosaur Island'. The area around Sandown Bay is a fun place for fossil hunting, so with a keen eye you could be leaving with a very special, very old souvenir.

A visit to Sandown wouldn't be compelte without a stroll along the dramatic coastal path at Culver Down. The panoramic views over the bay, across the Island's eastern coast and out to sea are simply stunning!
